Elles mirent Mapu au courant de leur désir de faire la connaissance du jeune homme. Mapu consulta alors les sages afin d’obtenir l’autorisation de le rencontrer. Quand celle-ci leur fut accordée, les jeunes filles se rendirent aussitôt dans la vallée pour voir ce jeune homme. Approchant du but de leur visite, elles entendirent un bruit sourd dans l’eau qui les effraya. Elles virent alors une étrange créature ramper vers elles. There, they met the wise men of MATAIEA. In the course of their conversation, they learnt there was a handsome young man who lived in the valley. Out of curiosity, they wanted to pay him a visit. They made Mapu aware of their wish to know the young man. Mapu then consulted the wise men in an aim to get for them a permission to meet him. As soon as they were granted the authorization, the two young girls right away walked up the valley to meet this young man. As they reached the focused place of their visit, they heard a thumping noise in the water that frightened them. They then saw a strange creature crawling towards them. This being had a human head and an eel's tail.
